A heat pump uses electricity and refrigerant to move heat from one location to another. A heat pump works on a reverse Carnot thermodynamic cycle. To provide heat, a heat pump works by extracting heat from the waste air or water outside through a heat exchanger unit and transferring it to the refrigerant.
